Absolute Truth & Morality

I grew up in a Christian household. Church was part of life until my senior year of high school, and once I went to college, I stopped going altogether. Even then, I never lost my sense of God. I would pray directly to Him, skipping over the idea of Jesus Christ, almost like I had a one-on-one connection with God Himself. I guess you could say I have always been skeptically religious.

As an adult, the assassination of Charlie Kirk hit me harder than I would have expected. I would not have expected to feel anything more than passing shock, but instead it struck me deeply. It felt almost personal, like losing someone I knew. The strange thing is, I was not even a huge Charlie Kirk fan before. In fact, I ended up listening to more of his work after his death than I ever did while he was alive. What really moved me was his unwavering faith in Christianity. That faith stirred something in me. It made me realize I needed to better educate myself about biblical teachings, about truth, and about morality. It is also what brought me back to church.

I have always been fascinated by absolute truth and morality, and I believe strongly in absolute truth. To me, without a deity behind it, morality becomes whatever feels right in the moment, and that is shaky ground. Absolute truth is the foundation that keeps morality from turning into just opinion.

So this is the beginning of something new for me. I am writing this as a cornerstone, the first piece in what I hope will become a collection of thoughts and learnings about morality and absolute truth. I plan to update it as I read more, study more, and learn more, and I will share those updates along the way.

For now, my core thoughts on biblical morality center around the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule. They feel like the clearest starting point, a foundation that everything else can build on.

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1–17)

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make for yourself an idol.
  3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.

The Golden Rule

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12)

My Reading List for Morality and Absolute Truth

And so I begin. Let’s see where this journey takes me.
